While the discipline of comparative literature in the West appears to be losing ground in its institutional presence, in other parts of the world including Asia and Latin America, as well as in'peripheral' European countries such as Spain, Portugal, Poland, Greece, Macedonia, etc., the discipline is flourishing both in scholarship and in its institutional structure and pedagogical vitality.
