Nicolaus Goldmann (1611-1665) was a German mathematician and architect who taught these subjects at Leiden University from the 1630s until his death at the age of 53. He wrote various treatises on civil as well as religious architecture. The Leiden Elzevier family published his richly illustrated book on military architecture in Latin in 1643, and translated it into French for a new edition in 1645.
