Prof. Koshland explained cooperativity and the sigmoid curve in terms of the models illustrated in Fig.1. These two theories rest on quite different assumptions. The sequential model proposed by Prof. Koshland & his co-workers depends upon the property of flexibility. The symmetry model of Monod, Wyman & Changenx requires that all subunits in the molucle are in the same confirmational form.
