| Summary, etc. | 'This text seeks to address the common functions, responsibilities and duties of occupational therapy leaders and managers. Many of these are in common with those faced by leaders and managers in other healthcare disciplines including nursing, physical therapy, social work, case management and others. The management functions most commonly identified include (a) planning, (b) organizing and staffing, (c) controlling, and (d) directing. There are sometimes variations because some authors may pull the function of'staffing' out from that of organizing and present five rather than four categories.
